Mazhali gives you two tools for communicating with your school community: Announcements for broadcast notices and Calendar Events for date-specific activities. Both send push notifications to parents instantly.
Only admins can post announcements and calendar events.
Announcements
Use announcements for notices, policy updates, and alerts that parents need to read but that aren’t tied to a specific date on the calendar.
How to post an announcement

Open Admin Dashboard → Announcements

Click + New Announcement

Fill in the fields:
- Title — a clear, short heading
- Body — the full message
- Category — see below
- Pin — toggle on to keep this announcement at the top of the list
- Expiry (optional) — set a date after which the announcement auto-hides

Click Post
All parents in the school receive a push notification immediately.
Announcement categories

Pinning and expiry
- Pin important announcements so they stay at the top of the list regardless of date.
- Expiry is useful for time-limited notices like “School closes at 1pm this Friday” — the notice auto-hides after the expiry date so your feed stays clean.
Calendar Events
Use calendar events for anything with a specific date — field trips, photo day, parent-teacher meetings, concerts.
How to create a calendar event

- Title
- Description (optional)
- Date
- Start time (optional)
- End time (optional)
- Scope — see below

Click Save
Parents receive a push notification for any event that affects their child’s class or the whole school.
Event scope
| Scope | Who sees it |

| School-wide | All parents and all staff |
| Class-specific | Parents of children in that class + the class teacher |
Use class-specific scope for events that only affect one group — for example, a Sunflowers class trip that doesn’t involve other classes.

Editing and deleting
Both announcements and calendar events can be edited or deleted after posting:
- Announcements: open the Announcements list → tap the item → Edit or Delete
- Calendar Events: open the Calendar → tap the event → Edit or Delete
Deleting an announcement or event does not retract the push notification already sent.
